Busy, busy, busy!

Posted in General with tags , , , , , on June 28, 2017 by Kate Jack

These days, I seem to be busier than ever, there just aren’t enough hours in the day! Take yesterday, for instance: I had to take the car in for its MOT, which it passed, attend a hospital appointment, squeeze in some writing, and finally tackle the next module of an online course in marketing, I’m doing.

All this was a little slowed down by having to take the bus to and from the garage to go home after delivering the car and then go pick it up. I don’t live far from the garage, but can’t walk it, because of my dodgy foot. I’d not used to getting the bus, as I normally drive everywhere. I’d forgotten what a pain in the rear public transport is. I explained to the peculiarly unhelpful bus driver that I’d not used my electronic pass before and he simply stared straight ahead, whilst I swiped the damn thing over the pad and it failed to respond. After the 3rd attempt it worked. Embarrassed and angry, I limped to a seat and swore continuously under my breath at the driver, cursing him and his descendants for decades to come.

That said, the rest of the day went really well. I got quite a lot of writing done and sailed through the course module with ease. I’ve found, these days, that it’s becoming increasingly easier to set goals and stick to them. I’ve discovered a newfound determination to succeed and hopefully I will. 😀

A tale of woe & misfortune

cold

Woe is me. I not only have a rotten cold, and a cough, my car’s off the road… again.

This means I’m forced to use public transport – oh the horror of it! It all started last Monday, when I went to the local Asda supermarket for some shopping. When I got back to my car, it just whined a little, then died; flat battery.

I duly called out the breakdown service, who arrived in a surprisingly short time. He not only jump started the car, but also diagnosed the cause of the flat battery. It turns out the alternator, which charges said battery, was faulty, and yes, it’s going to be expensive to repair. Pay day is 2 weeks away, so I’m “slumming” it on buses and trains until then. In the meantime, thanks to the season, everyone in work is coughing and sneezing, and one of these little darlings has passed their germs on to me; I’m so grateful (not) to be part of the snot and sneeze brigade.

duvet-days

I’ve spent the whole of the weekend in bed, from which pit I’ll not be moving until Monday morning, when I return to the plague pit known as work.

Stay warm and take my advice, avoid all bearers of colds; in fact insist they wear a bell around their necks as a warning.

Dear Diary…

diary 2

…IT’S STILL BLOODY FREEZING!!! and I’m fed up!

Not because of the weather, per se, but because my stupid Renault Scenic car has sprung a leak. The driver’s foot well is constantly damp and we’ve tried everything we can to trace where the water’s coming from.

We’ve poked behind the mud flaps and removed a ton of grunge, but still the leak persists. The manual says it could be coming from behind the windscreen wipers, but you have to take them off, in order to clear the channel behind them. Hah! Not flipping likely! Getting them off’s one thing, putting ’em back…I have trouble putting the top back on the milk.

So it’s back to the garage for about the umpteenth time and more money from my long suffering purse. Ho hum, such is life.
