What does Christmas mean to you?

When I was a child, Christmas was a wonderful time, filled with anticipation and gut wrenching excitement. For my parents it was a time of frantic activity and sheer pandemonium! wallpaper

I particularly remember one Christmas Eve, when my brother and I were barred from the living room because my father was still hanging wallpaper, he’d promised to hang months ago. Red faced from a few seasonal drinks, and covered in wallpaper paste, he struggled to get the pattern straight, harangued by my mother, who was trying to wrap presents, stuff a turkey, and deal with two overexcited kids at the same time – happy days.

Well unfortunately they’re both gone now, my mum many years ago, and my father more recently. I haven’t been a child in a long while, but I still remember the yuletide magic. Despite the distance in years, I still get a little frisson of childlike excitement. So may the season bring you everything you wish for yourself, and may the New Year be happy, fruitful and prosperous for you all. πŸ˜€

Thank you for sharing your memories. Your parents will probably be sharing in the celebrations, any time you happen to think of them. Bless you too! xxx πŸ™‚
