WIP BLOG HOP.
I’ve been nominated by the wonderful Tricia Drammeh to participate in this blog hop, outlining my current work in progress, Dawn Horizon, book III of The Silver Flute Trilogy. Before we get started, I’d like to suggest a visit to Tricia’s fantastic blog, filled with interesting articles, novel extracts, and much more. You can find her here at: http://www.triciadrammeh.com/
The idea is to answer 7 questions about my current WIP, and then pass the baton on. So, let’s begin.
1.What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
A) His name is Jeremiah Tully, a completely fictional character, although his name, and the instrument he plays – a silver flute – were inspired by 70’s rock band, Jethro Tull.
2) When and where is the story set?
A) The story is set in a netherworld, known as The Land of Midnight Days. The time is contemporary, as the characters originated in a city based loosely on my home town, Liverpool. However, a series of events have taken them from our world, outlined in the first book, Land of Midnight Days, into an underground city, detailed in the second book, Through the Gloaming. Both books contain elements of the fantastical, where magic, demons, and even ogres abound. Dawn Horizon, is the culmination of the first two stories and takes place in The Midnight Land itself.
3) What should we know about him/her?
A) Jeremiah is a young man of mixed race origins, Elwyn/human, and is an outstanding musician. He can also perform magic, conjuring up light in dark places, being able to see other people’s past traumas, and the ability to use telepathy. He is also mute.
4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
A) Jeremiah has experienced rejection all his life, because of his muteness and his mixed race heritage. He has no family, no friends, has to use sign language to communicate, and feels he has no place where he can be himself, without inviting scorn or persecution.
5) What is the personal goal of the character?
A) To find out what his purpose in life is. Why is he so gifted, as far as music is concerned? Why did his family abandon him?
6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?
A) I know this sounds strange, but I always have to have a “proper” title before I start to write, so the book will be called Dawn Horizon. There are a few articles on all three books on my blog.
7) When can we expect the book to be published?
A) Hopefully later this year.
Well that’s me done and dusted. The next participants in the blog hop will be:
